Studios A & D were located in the same building as Columbia's offices at 799 7th Ave. Recorded: A NYC November 24, 1953 B1 to C1 NYC June 24, 1954 C2 to C4 NYC July 1, 1954 D NYC April 20, 1955 E NYC April 22, 1955 F1 to F5 NYC February 16, 1956 F6 to G1 NYC February 20, 1956 G2 to G5 NYC February 23, 1956 H1 I1 Newport Jazz Festival, July 5, 1956 I2 to I5 NYC June 28, 1957 J1 to K2 NYC August 19, 1957 K3 to L1 NYC September 24, 1957 L2 to L6 NYC September 25, 1957 M1 to N3 NYC January 27, 1962 N4 to N8 NYC September 4, 1962 CL 547 Jam Session Coast-to-coast CL 616 Jammin' At Condon's CL 719 Bixieland CL 881 Condon's Treasury Of Jazz CL 931 Louis Armstrong And Eddie Condon At Newport CL 1020 Jzz Omnibus (various artists) CL 1089 The Roaring Twenties CL 1970/CS 8770 The Giants Of Jazz (various artists) LN16024/BN17024 Midnight In Moscow P 14396 Chicago, My Home Town CJ-45145 Dixieland Jam CK-45145 CD reissue of above Note: All titles appeared on the Columbia label, except "Midnight In Moscow", which was issued on Epic, and "Chicago, My Home Town", which appeared in the Columbia Special Products Encore series. All sessions are mono except (M1 to N8) which have been mixed from the original three-track tapes to stereo. Producer's note: There are several fleeting drop-outs sprinkled throughout this set which are the result of tape deterioration. They are in all cases quite minor. The beginning of "How Come You Do Me Like You Do" (B) and "At The Jazz Band Ball" (E) and the ending of "I Can't Believe That You're In Love With Me" (B) have an incorrectable problem, which causes the cymbals to sound out of phase. Sessions K, N & O are mixed from the original three-track masters. Because of the unusual way in which the instruments were assigned to each of the three tracks, session N is mixed with a very small stereo spread. The three-track master of "St. James Infirmary" contains a high-pitched oscillation tone, so the mono master was used. Although sessions L & M were also recorded on three-track tapes, no analog source other than mono can be found. It is those mono analog sources that appear here. Only a mono master source exists for the alternate take of "Tiger Rag". Additional note for CD edition: Because of the unusual way in which the instruments were assigned to each of the three tracks, session N is mixed with a very small stereo spread. Most of sessions L & M survived in stereo on the digital tape used for CK-45145. Although "What's The Use" does appear on that CD, the original ending has several bad notes. So the mono version with the proper insert ending, which appeared on M 14396 is used here. Also, the master take of "Apex Blues" and the alternate takes of "Minor Drag" and "Tiger Rag" only exist in mono. ************************************************************************************************** Aufnahmen 1953 - 62; auf 3500 Stück limitiert! Audiophile LP (7 LP, 180 g.).......... ************************************************************************************************ If only we had started collecting the Mosaic Jazz Record titles when they first started issuing them! There is no doubt that Mosaic Records have been quietly issuing some of the most important jazz performances ever committed to vinyl record and/or CD. Many of the Mosaic sets have reached "mythical" status and are highly prized by jazz afficionados, audiophiles and music collectors. Indeed, their sets are first rate in terms of production quality, performances chosen, libretto information and sound! All the Mosaic sets are limited edition and numbered and when they sell out, the company does not reissue them anymore - in other words, if you snooze, you lose! One of the most sought LP sets, having reached near "mythical status", is: "The Complete CBS Recordings of Eddie Condon and His All Stars". The 7-LP boxed set has been out of print for a very long time. This is a chance for you to find out for yourself why so many collectors prize this set so highly! Best of all, this set is BRAND NEW and UNPLAYED! It has been safely stored away for a number of years - this may be your only chance to get a MINT copy of a superb rarity! Up for sale: o U.S.A. "MOSAIC RECORDS" 7-LP boxed set (180 gram vinyl) o Audiophile Pressings of these magnificent performances o LPs come in a hard outer box o Set comes complete with an extensive Libretto o Limited Edition & Numbered LP set - 3,500 made worldwide o ************************************************************************************************* Record Catalog Number: MQ7-152 (7-LP boxed set) Extremely rare, this is a much sought after 7-LP set: The Complete CBS Recordings of Eddie Condon and His All Stars CONDITION Details: The BOX and LIBRETTO are in Mint condition - the set is actually BRAND NEW. The LPs are in Mint condition! - everything is BRAND NEW & UNPLAYED. More Info: Condon's work for Columbia was originally released over nine albums and two anthologies, and needless to say is impossible to find today. This Mosaic reissue includes them all in complete chronological order. The booklet contains previously unpublished photographs from the actual sessions, liner notes by Max Harrison, and reminiscences from original producer George Avakian. The music contains priceless memories of the sound Eddie's determination brought to the stages of Town Hall, the Metropolitan Opera House, the whole wide world, and his cramped, but happy, club. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Record One - Side A: .................. 1. Most of the material date from 1953-1957 and feature freewheeling performances with such classic soloists as cornetists Wild Bill Davison and Bobby Hackett, trumpeter Billy Butterfield, trombonists Cutty Cutshall, Lou McGarity, and Vic Dickenson, clarinetists Edmond Hall, Peanuts Hucko, Bob Wilber, and Pee Wee Russell and tenorman Bud Freeman among others. Eddie Condon's comments during his band's waterlogged performance at the 1957 Newport Jazz Festival alone are worth the price. **********************************************************************************************
