AllMusic Review by Leo Stanley
Mosaic's limited-edition, seven LP-box Phil Woods Quartet/Quintet 20th Anniversary Set is a treasure trove for hardcore fans of the alto saxophonist. All the material on this set is previously unreleased; Woods has been saving this material for 20 years and decided to license the tapes to Mosaic to celebrate his band's 20th anniversary. Much of this music is dynamic and exciting, and it will certainly be a welcome addition to the collection of any serious Woods fan.

.................... If only we had started collecting the Mosaic Jazz Record titles when they first started issuing them! There is no doubt that Mosaic Records have been quietly issuing some of the most important jazz performances ever committed to vinyl record and/or CD. Many of the Mosaic sets have reached "mythical" status and are highly prized by jazz afficionados, audiophiles and music collectors. Indeed, their sets are first rate in terms of production quality, performances chosen, libretto information and sound! All the Mosaic sets are limited edition and numbered and when they sell out, the company does not reissue them anymore - in other words, if you snooze, you lose!
Best of all, this set is BRAND NEW and UNPLAYED! It has been safely stored away for a number of years - this may be your only chance to get a MINT copy of a superb rarity!
