Gut klingen tut das Album aufgrund seiner exzellenten Produktion im Grunde in fast jeder Pressung. Die Classic Records-Ausgabe allerdings ist so gut, daß wir sie schon als “definitiv” bezeichnet haben… .......... ********************************************************************************************** Rezension: Trotz des unglaublichen Erfolgs blieb dies das letzte Album des Duos. Wobei die Frage natürlich erlaubt ist, was man nach einem solchen Wurf noch gemeinsam hätte erreichen können. Mit dem Titelsong und "The Boxer" gelangen zwei Pop-Manifeste, die selbst einen Phil Spector vor Neid erblassen lassen. "Cecilia" kann man als ganz frühen Entwurf für Simons spätere Glanzleistung "Graceland" interpretieren. Textlich sind gleich mehrere brillante Gesellschafts-Momentaufnahmen zu verzeichnen, was wohl auch dazu beitrug, daß die LP 1970 einen Nerv beim Publikum traf. Dann ist da noch die Aufnahme von "Bye Bye Love" als Reminiszenz an die großen Vorbilder The Everly Brothers – gleichzeitig eine Verbeugung wie eine Begegnung auf Augenhöhe!
