************************************************************************************************ Rezension: Schon die frühen Suede-Songs hätten großenteils schon in den 70ern erscheinen können. Aber Suede-Musik war dennoch niemals nostalgisch, sondern zeitlos, dabei glamourös, elegant und romantisch. Daran hat sich ein Vierteljahrhundert später nichts geändert, und bei jeder anderen Band könnte man das redundant nennen. Hier kann man das aber mit der ewigen Gültigkeit eines perfekten Maßanzugs vergleichen (Brian Ferry würde das sicher unterschreiben); nur Details verraten, aus welcher Dekade er stammt. Und er fühlt sich großartig an – was man von einem Suede-Album in der Regel auch behaupten kann. Mal ganz davon abgesehen, daß Brett Anderson auch mit über 50 einer der großartigsten Sänger unter der Sonne ist… (2018) ********************************************************************************************** *** Gatefold Cover Ein orchestrales großes Ganzes Die Britpop-Pioniere Suede veröffentlichen 2018 ihr neues, mittlerweile achtes Studioalbum. »The Blue Hour« ist der mit Spannung erwartete Nachfolger von »Night Thoughts«, mit dem sie 2016 Platz sechs der UK-Charts erreichten. 14 Songs haben Brett Anderson (Gesang), Mat Osman (Bass), Simon Gilbert (Schlagzeug), Richard Oakes (Gitarre) und Neil Codling (Synthesizer, Keyboard, Piano) dafür in den Assault & Battery Studios in London aufgenommen. Unterstützt wurden sie dabei maßgeblich von den berühmten Prager Philharmonikern sowie teilweise von einem Chor. Die Produktion und das Mixing übernahm kein Geringerer als Alan Moulder (Nine Inch Nails, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age). Alle Songs von »The Blue Hour« hängen inhaltlich zusammen und ergeben so ein großes Ganzes. Ein besonderes Highlight ist zudem das Stück »The Invisibles« aus der Feder des schottischen Komponisten Craig Armstrong, der bereits 1996 mit der Band für ihr Album »Coming Up« gearbeitet hatte. "The Blue Hour" is the much-anticipated sequel to "Night Thoughts," which ranked number six on the UK charts in 2016. 14 songs were recorded by Brett Anderson (vocals), Mat Osman (bass), Simon Gilbert (drums), Richard Oakes (guitar) and Neil Codling (synthesizer, keyboard, piano) at the Assault & Battery Studios in London. They were mainly supported by the famous Prague Philharmonic and partly by a choir.
