Das Pover-Trio James Gang ließ zwar "Live In Concert" in der New Yorker Carnegie Hall auch nichts anbrennen, der schwere Bluesrock mit gepreßt herausgestoßenem Gesang und rückgekoppelten Saitenorgien ist aber doch eher Hausmannskost für spezielle Liebhaber des Genres - allzu grob ging die damals von Pete Townshend hochgeschätzte Gang hier zur Sache. Kaum zu glauben, daß ihr Gitarrist, Keyboarder und Sänger Joe Walsh wenige Jahre später an dem romantischen Eagles-Welterfolg "Hotel California" maßgeblich beteiligt war. Eine Brücke zwischen beiden Welten schlägt da schon eher Walshs Soloalbum "The Smoker You Drink, The Player You Get" (MCAD- 31121/TIS, 1973, AAD, 35:49; I:08, K:07, R:07), das seinerzeit in den USA vergoldet wurde und das Multitalent als Baumeister einer Wohlstrukturierten, kraftvollen Rock-Architektur zeigt. ............. © Stereoplay ............. *********************************************************************************************** ............. The James Gang earned a great number of fans through their live performances, so it made sense that they would release a live record within months of their successful third album. Live in Concert captures much of the energy of their live performances, with Joe Walsh's guitar solos catching fire on nearly every song.
