*************************************************************************************************** Werke von Giuseppe Verdi, Camille Saint-Sans, Gioachino Rossini, Modest Mussorgskij Orchestre de la Socitee des Concerts du Conservatoire de Paris unter der Leitung von Anatole Fistoulari. Aufnahmen 1960 in La Maison de la Chimie, Paris, Frankreich durch den bekannten Tonmeister von Decca, Kenneth Wilkinson. Im 19. Jahrhundert gab es kaum eine Oper ohne eine Ballett-Szene. Häufig dienten diese Interludien weniger der Handlung als vielmehr der schlichten Unterhaltung - auf dieser LP aus dem Jahre 1960 aber finden sich Beispiele dafür vereint, wie in Opern mit Ballett-Sequenzen Momente großer Dramatik erzählt werden können: der Triumphmarsch in Verdis „Aida“, das Finale aus Saint-Saens „Samson und Delilah“ oder aus Mussorgskys „Khovantschina“ oder die Soldatentänze aus Rossinis „Wilhelm Tell“.
