Neben Fritz Reiners erstem Stereo-”Zarathustra” (und im selben Jahr, 1954, aufgenommen) ist dies wohl die legendärste und unter Sammlern begehrteste RCA. Eine klassische Sternstunde in jeder Beziehung: Die Leistung des RCA-Aufnahmeteams ist ein halbes Jahrhundert später um nichts weniger berauschend als damals; und eine bessere, sprühendere Einspielung als die jenes Großmeisters der sogenannten “leichten” Klassik wird man auch schwerlich finden. Unübertrefflich. ................ Boston Pops Orchestra ............. Dirigent Arthur Fiedler ............. Aufnahmen 1954. ............. Was die Entstehungsgeschichte von Jacques Offenbachs Ballett „Gaite Parisienne“ betrifft, so kann man hier wirklich von einem Retortenprodukt sprechen: 1938, fast 60 Jahre nach Offenbachs Tod, gab der russische Balletttänzer Leonide Massine ein Ballett in Auftrag, das aus Melodien und Versatzstücken der Operetten Offenbachs zusammengestellt werden sollte. Der französische Komponist Manuel Rosenthal führte die Auftragsarbeit meisterlich aus: „Gaite Parisienne“ ist kein beliebiges Best-Of Offenbach, sondern eine dramaturgisch geschickt gemachte und meisterlich orchestrierte Zusammenstellung dessen, was Offenbachs lebendige und bunte Operettenwelt ausmachte (selbstverständlich darf hier auch der berühmte Can-Can nicht fehlen). 1954 nahm Arthur Fiedler das vor allem in Amerika über die Maßen beliebte Werk für RCA mit dem Boston Pops Orchestra auf - Fiedlers erste Stereo-Aufnahme, und bis heute für Audiophile ein echtes Sahnestück mit wundervollem, vielschichtigen und wuchtigen Klang. Die „Pariser Fröhlichkeit“ des Titels ist unter Fiedlers energischem Dirigat in jeder Sekunde spürbar - eine klanglich wie musikalisch absolute mitreißende Platte.............. ****************************************************************************** ....Original "Shaded Dog" 4 disc, single-sided 45 RPM pressing on 200 gram vinyl. Out of print and growing harder and harder to find. Original 1958 "Shaded Dog" Living Stereo release. ..... Using an all-analog, tube amplification process, this recording was mastered by audio legend, Bernie Grundman, at half speed from the original source audio tapes. The disc was then pressed on 200 gram vinyl guaranteeing virtually no surface noise and sonically superior dynamics. In addition to the amazing audio, Classic Records made every attempt to faithfully reproduce the original artwork... their sleeves are beautiful and make for a stunning package. ...................... Records are new and still sealed in it's original plastic sleeve. Perforation is completely intact. Corners are sharp, colors vibrant and spine is straight. Review: The full ballet, as well as a concert suite, has been frequently performed and recorded. Efrem Kurtz, who conducted the world premiere, recorded some of the music for Columbia Records on 78-rpm discs. In 1947, Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops Orchestra recorded the ballet for RCA Victor; this high fidelity recording was later issued by RCA as its first 33-1/3 rpm LP in 1950.
