************************************************************************************************* The London Symphony Orchestra Dirigent Enrique Jorda Barbara Howitt - Sopran Aufnahmen Ende 50er Jahre in der Walthamstow Assembly Hall in London, England. Auch bei dieser Wiederauflage einer Everest-LP wird die überragende Technik der 35mm-Bänder deutlich, die bei den Aufnahmen verwendet und mittels moderner Röhrenelektronik wieder zum Leben erweckt wurde. Und selbst diejenigen unter den Klassikliebhabern, die bereits mehrere, vermutlich auch hervorragende Platten dieses berühmten Dreispitz im Schrank stehen haben, werden hier staunen! Fallas wohl berühmtestes und beliebtestes Werk ist von Jorda mit einer unglaublichen Spannung und zugleich farbig-lebendigen Darstellung ausgestattet worden, so dass man aus dem Staunen nicht mehr herauskommt. Mit dieser LP bekommt der Sammler nicht nur eine komplette Dreispitz-Einspielung, sondern auch eine traumhaft schöne Aufnahme, die zu jeder Minute fesselt und besonders durch ihre Livehaftigkeit überzeugt! Direkt vom 35mm Filmband gemastert von Bernie Grundman über seine röhrenbetriebene Schneidemaschine. ************************************************************************************************ Rezension: Der eigentliche Titel lautet natürlich "El Sombrero de tres picos" – schließlich handelt es sich bei dem 1919 (mit Bühnenbildern von Pablo Picasso!) uraufgeführten Werk um eines der weltweit populärsten Stücke spanischer Musik überhaupt. Der legendäre Impresario des Pariser 'Ballet Russe', Serge Diaghilev, hatte es während einer Spanientournee mit seiner Truppe bei de Falla in Auftrag gegeben. Randvoll ist es mit Rhythmen und Melodien aus der spanischen Folklore; eine der farbenprächtigsten Balletkompositionen der Epoche! Hier aufgeführt von einem der bedeutendsten spanischen Musiker des 20. Jahrhunderts (der obendrein als musikalischer Leiter des Baskischen Balletts in den späten 30er Jahren über reichlich Genre-Erfahrung verfügte)! – Bernie Grundman masterte seinerzeit noch für Classic Records sowohl 33- als auch 45-UPM-Versionen mit puristischem Röhrenequipment; die 45er-Version blieb damals unveröffentlicht. Everest LPs through the early 1960s were recorded on 3-channel 35mm magnetic film recording equipment. 35mm magnetic film yielded greater fidelity and less noise than standard 1/4" recording tape. The Westrex Corporation built special equipment to Everest's specifications to accomplish these advantages. Fast forward to today: Classic Records by Analogue Productions is resurrecting this collection through an initial 10-title reissue series. Bernie Grundman cut the Classic Records reissues at both 33 and 45 RPM — the 45 RPM versions have never been reissued! • Quality Record Pressings 200-gram flat profile LPs — These records are pressed with a flat-edge, no groove-guard flat profile, like the originals. The flat edge refers to the absence of a raised, beaded lip on the outer edge of the record, providing a flat playing surface - and no incline — on your turntable. Quality Record Pressings' quality is legendary and these flat profile 200-gram platters will look and sound exceptional! Each 2LP set comes with a Stoughton Printing tip-on original jacket and an Everest Records branded jacket showing photos of each reissue title. The two LPs are packaged in a protective clear sleeve. Manuel de Falla's famed 3 Cornered Hat is a hard piece to perform with the Latin sense of flair and excitement necessary to convey the wonder of the composition. Fiedler on RCA (LSC 2744) tries with some success to get the flair but is no equal for Argenta on London/Decca (CS 6050). The Jorda read with the London Symphony is electric from the first vocal burst! To say that Jorda owns this piece would not be an overstatement — it is exciting and largely festive in the way de Falla intended it to be! Add to a fantastic performance the Bert Whyte / Everest 35mm recording at London's famed Walthamstow Assembly Hall and you have a desert island disc!
