******************************************************************************************* Mastered from the original analog tapes by Ryan K. Smith at Sterling Sound Cut at 45 RPM, 200-gram pressing by Quality Record Pressings "The new remastering sounds amazing. Better than it ever did. I'm happy and pleasantly surprised." Chris "Whipper" Layton The 45 RPM Analogue Productions reissue of Stevie Ray Vaughan's Couldn't Stand The Weather is so good, as are its 45 RPM companions Texas Flood and Soul To Soul that they truly represent what Gregg Geller, producer and A&R representative described as "the best replication of the master tapes to date." We've already brought you the 33 1/3 RPM box set Texas Hurricane featuring the greatest Stevie Ray Vaughan tribute ever reissued six of Vaughan's most classic album titles remastered for ultimate blues and guitar fanatics. We've now taken the extra step and done 45 RPM versions of these three standout LPs. We've used the original 30 inches-per-second, half-inch analog master tapes for all of these albums. Ryan K. Smith at Sterling Sound cut the lacquers for the LPs using the ultimate VMS 80 cutting lathe. Gary Salstrom handled the plating and the vinyl was pressed of course at our Quality Record Pressings, maker of the world's finest-sounding LPs. Couldnt Stand The Weather is the remarkable sophomore album by Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble. It follows their critically acclaimed debut, Texas Flood. Incorporating the same winning formula of musicianship and songwriting, Couldnt Stand The Weather cemented Vaughans place as one of musics greatest. It is their first to earn gold certification and their first platinum-seller. It includes breathtaking renditions of Clarks “Cold Shot and Hendrixs “Voodoo Child. A staple on the Billboard charts, this definitive masterpiece received praise from Entertainment Weekly, Q, Down Beat and many others. There's not a link in this production chain that wasn't absolute first-rate. The absolute best that money can buy. But beyond that we've poured our passion into this project. Weitere Details: *************************************************************************************************** Joan Baez - Gesang, Gitarre Caleb Quaye, Fred Tackett, Paul Jackson - Gitarre Cesar Cancino, John Hobbs - Keyboards, Synthesizer Aythan Armor - Keyboards, Synthesizer, Klavier Tony Wilkins - Orgel Abraham Laboriel - Bass, Gitarre Alex Acua, John Robinson - Schlagzeug u.a. ************************************************************************************************ Titel: Seite 1: "Brothers in Arms" (Mark Knopfler) "Recently" (Joan Baez) "Asimbonanga" (Johnny Clegg) "The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress" (Jimmy Webb) "James and the Gang" (Baez) Seite 2: "Let Us Break Bread Together"/"Oh Freedom" (Traditional) "MLK" (Paul David Hewson, David Howell Evans, Larry Mullen, Jr., Adam Clayton) "Do Right Woman, Do Right Man" (Chips Moman, Dan Penn) "Biko" (Peter Gabriel) ************************************************************************************************* Mastered by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio from the original analog tapes 200-gram vinyl pressing by Quality Record Pressings! Deluxe tip-on jacket by Stoughton Printing In 1987, the "Madonna of Folk" returned to U.S. record shops with a vengeance, delivering here interpretations of songs by Dire Straits, Johnny Clegg, U2 and Peter Gabriel — performers, writes AllMusic, whose political consciousness had been formed by listening to old Joan Baez albums. We've taken a classic and kicked it up a notch. Several notches, in fact. This 200-gram stunner, pressed at Quality Record Pressings, was expertly remastered by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio. Lacquer plating was by QRP's master technician Gary Salstrom, topped off by a heavy cardboard tip-on jacket from Stoughton Printing with vibrantly reproduced original artwork. How does it get any better? The title track from Recently is a stunning Joan Baez original, where she boldly answers ex-husband David Harris' downbeat memoir of the '60s, Dreams Die Hard, as well as other '80s revisionists. The track "Asimbognagna" was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Recording. ************************************************************************************************* Description Mastered from the Original Analog Tapes by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio Joan Baez. A musical force of nature - who unselfconsciously introduced Bob Dylan to the world in 1963, marched on the front lines of the Civil Rights movement with Martin Luther King, Jr., inspired Vaclav Havel to fight for a Czech Republic, and sang on the first Amnesty International tour. She brought the Free Speech Movement into the spotlight at Berkeley, took to the fields with Cesar Chavez, organized resistance to the war in Southeast Asia, then 40 years later saluted the Dixie Chicks for their courage to protest the Iraq war. Her earliest recordings fed a host of traditional ballads into the rock vernacular and she's continued to lend her voice to songwriters of various generations and causes ever since. 1987's Recently served as both her first release of the 1980s and first in nearly a decade. Here the "Madonna of Folk" offers up sterling interpretations of material by more modern artists like Mark Knopfler, U2, Peter Gabriel and Johnny Clegg to go along with a pair of stunning originals ("Recently," "Jame and the Gang"). Her take on Clegg's "Asimbognagna" was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Recording. Features: • 200g vinyl from Analogue Productions • Mastered from the original analog tapes by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio • Pressed at Quality Record Pressings • Plating by Gary Salstrom • Deluxe tip-on Stoughton gatefold jacket *********************************************************************************************

********************************************************************************************* The ultimate pressings of the Beach Boys discography from Analogue Productions! I think the mono version has it all over the stereo version, which, while not hard left/right like early Beatles albums, still sounds as if the intent was to combine the elements to create a mono mix. The mono mix holds together far better in every way — particularly the way in which Dennis's drums are mixed and in the vocal integrity. ... Both the mono and stereo reissues sound open, transparent and full frequency." — Michael Fremer, AnalogPlanet.com. Read the whole review here. And the look of each album befits its sonic superiority! Presented in "old school" Stoughton tip-on jackets, these time honored favorites shine brighter than the originals! Surfer Girl, the Beach Boys' third album for Capitol Records, was the first produced by Brian Wilson on his own (the previous two, Surfin Safari and Surfin Usa (Mono & Stereo Remasters), were co-produced by the late Capitol A&R man, Nick Venet). This album was The Boys' first really great effort; there's not a bad track in the lot, including the title song, "Catch A Wave," "In My Room," "Hawaii," "Our Car Club," "Little Deuce Coupe," "Your Summer Dream," and more. Apart from Surfin' Safari, which was mono only, the Beach Boys did turn in stereo masters on all of their early albums up until 1965. The Beach Boys Today! was the first LP for which they only delivered a mono master. The stereo editions of Surfin' USA, Surfer Girl, Little Deuce Coupe, Shut Down Vol. 2, All Summer Long, Beach Boys Christmas Album and Beach Boys Concert were all mixed in stereo by their own preferred engineer, Chuck Britz, ostensibly under the group's supervision. "Brian may or may not have been present for those mixing sessions — evidence suggests that he trusted Chuck's skills enough to let him prepare those mixes on his own — but the group held onto their multitrack tapes and delivered stereo masters to Capitol, rather than allowing Capitol to prepare their own stereo versions. Later, when Brian was only delivering mono masters, Capitol would prepare the Duophonic pseudo stereo editions for the stereo market," says Alan Boyd, producer and Beach Boys' archivist. The Beach Boys' practice of double-tracking their vocals really lends itself to stereo mixes. Split left and right, as they are on a lot of those early stereo versions, those doubled vocal parts can really envelop the listener, surrounding them with Wilsons, Loves and Jardines! All of the newer stereo mixes on these remastered albums (The Beach Boys Today!, Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!), The Beach Boys' Party, Pet Sounds and Smiley Smile) were done by Mark Linett on behalf of the Beach Boys. *********************************************************************************************

Surfin' USA was the Beach Boys' real breakthough album, showing Brian Wilson asserting himself in the studio as both a premier songwriter and arranger on a set of material that was stronger than their Surfin' Safari debut. Apart from Surfin' Safari, which was mono only, the Beach Boys did turn in stereo masters on all of their early albums up until 1965. The Beach Boys Today! was the first LP for which they only delivered a mono master. Besides the hit title track on Surfin' USA and its popular drag-racing flip side ("Shut Down"), AllMusic.com notes that Surfin' USA has a lovely, heartbreaking ballad ("Lonely Sea") and a couple of strong Brian Wilson originals ("The Noble Surfer" and "Farmer's Daughter"). "There are also a surprisingly high quotient of instrumentals (five) that demonstrate that ... the Beach Boys could play respectably gutsy surf rock as a self-contained unit. Indeed, the album as a whole is the best they would make, prior to the late '60s, as a band that played most of their instruments, rather than as a vehicle for Brian Wilson's ideas. The LP was a huge hit, vital to launching surf music as a national craze, and one of the few truly strong records to be recorded by a self-contained American rock band prior to the British Invasion." — AllMusic.com "What I can say is that Kevin Gray has been able to extract every last bit of information from whatever tape is in the box, and present it in a way that is pleasing and natural to the ear. ... in my opinion, the Analogue Productions pressings are now THE definitive issue of each Beach Boys album, and will be my reference copies until if and when something better comes along — which may be never." — Lee Dempsey, Endless Summer Quarterly, Summer 2015 Edition "Even when in haste though, the group's vocal performances are outstanding. '409' was never recorded in stereo so here on the stereo version of the record you get the echoey 'Duophonic' take. ... The album ends with 'Custom Machine' another number obviously written and performed in haste, but by this time the group had gotten so damn good that even its trifles were ear-pleasing. Because of the 'Duophonic' tracks and the rushed nature of the production I'd go for the mono version." — Michael Fremer, AnalogPlanet.com. Read the whole review here. A musical legacy that began in Hawthorne, California and went on to conquer the world. Analogue Productions presents the ultimate pressings of 14 essential Beach Boys albums! Mastered by Kevin Gray, most from the original master tapes, and plated and pressed by Quality Record Pressings, the finest LP pressing facility in the world, these are awesome recordings to experience. And the look of each album befits its sonic superiority! Presented in "old school" Stoughton tip-on jackets, these time honored favorites shine brighter than the originals! Released just one month after the Surfer Girl album, Little Deuce Coupe was, incredibly, the Beach Boys' fourth album in less than a year. Brian Wilson and the band responded by turning in arguably their most consistent effort to date — and a concept album, to boot. Little Deuce Coupe expanded the band's subject matter to encompass 1963 America's burgeoning love affair with hot rods, surrounding previously released cuts such as the title track, "409," and others with strong new material (much of it cowritten by Wilson and a DJ, Roger Christian). A highpoint: the a cappella James Dean tribute "A Young Man Is Gone" (a reworking of Bobby Troup's beautiful "Their Hearts Were Full of Spring"), a prime example of Wilson's arranging genius and the band's vocal prowess. "Their Hearts Were Full Of Spring" had been a standard for the vocal group The Four Freshmen, whose lush and distinctive jazz-based vocal arrangements had a huge influence on Brian's musical development. **************************************************************************************************

Der pure analoge Wahnsinn. Ein wahrer Soundrausch. Super Remastering. „All Summer Long“ ist das 1964er Album mit den Hits „All Summer Long“ und dem weltberühmten „I Get Around“. „Beach Boys Party“ im edlen Klapp-Cover, „Summer Days (And Summer Nights), mit den Jahrhundert-Hits „Help Me Rhonda“ und „California Girls“ und last but not least „The Beach Boys Today“. Auf letztgenanntem Album tummeln sich Kracher wie „Do you Wanna Dance?“, aber auch unbekanntere, aber umso nachhaltigere Sound-Perlen wie „When I Grow Up“ oder „In The Back Of My Mind“. Pressed by AP's own Quality Record Pressings, the mixes are nothing short of a brilliant rejuvenation that all fans of this most American of 1960s pop bands will find entirely essential. They aren't merely different, or even just better — they're terrific. ... New colors and dimensions in the music abound. Wilson's grand arrangements are hugely well served by these breakthrough stereo mixes." — Robert Baird, Stereophile, Recordings of the Month, March 2016 "What I can say is that Kevin Gray has been able to extract every last bit of information from whatever tape is in the box, and present it in a way that is pleasing and natural to the ear. ... in my opinion, the Analogue Productions pressings are now THE definitive issue of each Beach Boys album, and will be my reference copies until if and when something better comes along — which may be never." — Lee Dempsey, Endless Summer Quarterly, Summer 2015 Edition A musical legacy that began in Hawthorne, California and went on to conquer the world. "Put simply, this is the Beach Boys at their mid-'60s prime. Ironically, the band's greatest evolutionary leap was spurred by its leader, Brian Wilson, who decided to drop out of the band's live performances after a December 1964 nervous breakdown to concentrate on honing the Beach Boys' studio sound. With Wilson's productions gaining a significant new depth and confidence (note the innovative modulations on 'Dance, Dance, Dance'), the first half of Today seems a logical, upbeat step forward from its predecessors. But it's the album's second act that steals the show, setting the stage for the triumph of Pet Sounds. Indeed, it's easy to imagine gorgeous, introspective tracks such as 'Please Let Me Wonder,' 'She Knows Me Too Well,' and 'In the Back of My Mind' intertwined with the best of Sounds."

Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!) was released in stereo for the first time in 2012. These stereo mixes were created between 2005 and 2012 using the first generation basic tracking session multitracks, synced with the overdubs that were later added on second and third generation masters, to create the first true stereo mixes. The exception is "Help Me Rhonda," which is a computer-generated stereo mix by Derry Fitzgerald. A remix in stereo for that track isn't possible because many overdubs were added as the song was mixed for the original mono single. The stereo mixes for "Today!", "Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!)," "Beach Boys' Party!" and "Smiley Smile" were produced and mixed by Mark Linett, and co-produced by Alan Boyd. All of the newer stereo mixes on these remastered albums (The Beach Boys Today!, Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!), The Beach Boys' Party, Pet Sounds and Smiley Smile) were done by Mark Linett on behalf of the Beach Boys. Summer Days features another Wilson world-beater production, "California Girls," and the band's second No. 1 single, "Help Me, Rhonda." Ever pressured by commercial concerns, Wilson and the band created what was in essence the true follow-up to the All Summer Long album. Still, there's a level of musical sophistication to tracks such as "Salt Lake City," the Phil Spector tribute "Then I Kissed Her," "Summer Means New Love" and "Let Him Run Wild." Titel: 1. Heroes And Villains 2. Vegetables 3. "After the much-discussed, uncompleted Smile project — which was supposed to take the innovations of Pet Sounds to even grander heights — collapsed, the Beach Boys released Smiley Smile in its place. (To clarify much confusion: Smiley Smile is an entirely different piece of work than Smile would have been, although some material that ended up on Smiley Smile would have most likely been used on Smile. Also, much of Smiley Smile was in fact recorded after the Smile sessions had ceased.)," writes AllMusic.com For fans expecting something along the lines of Sgt. Pepper (and there were many of them), Smiley Smile was a major disappointment, replacing psychedelic experimentation with spare, eccentric miniatures. Heard now, outside of such unrealistic expectations, it's a rather nifty, if rather slight, effort that's avant garde in the extreme. "'Wind Chimes,' 'Wonderful,' 'Vegetables,' and much of the rest is low-key psychedelic quirkiness, with abundant fine harmonies and unusual arrangements. The standouts, nonetheless, were two recent hit singles in which Brian Wilson's ambitions were still intact: The inscrutable mini-opera 'Heroes and Villains,' and the number one hit 'Good Vibrations,' one of the few occasions where the group managed to be recklessly experimental and massively commercial at the same time." — AllMusic.com ***********************************************************************************************
